Prototype Flags for Wigi Dome: (Left) The Festival of Dreams, (Right) An Educational Type of Magic

ABOUT THE WIGI DOME

A look into Humboldt County Bay

I came to Humboldt County to be surrounded by nature. Our beaches are still exempt from overcrowding; long rainy months feed the rivers and the forest allowing abundant fishing and the sprouting of mushrooms. As we open our bay to cruise ship tourism, now is the perfect time to educate our community and visitors on the Wigi, an estuary to six rivers, otters that have nearly gone instinct, and Wiyot Indian ground.

We use mushroom-themed geocaches representing the dunes to draw people into our dome and display felt flags at local businesses. When visitors come up to the dome they are encouraged to write down an orison and pin it to the entrance. The front of the dome has a slight resemblance to the dunes with its sandy color and depiction of tall weeds. An altar is placed outside of the dome to encourage healing thoughts and to remember the people and life before us.

We want to create a safe resting space for our audience. A shaded area decorated with marine animals and plants, blue, purple, and green colors accompanied by opposing oranges and reds. They will see soft and cute versions of animals in our local bay, such as octopuses and diadromous fish. 10% of all earnings are donated to Friends of the Dunes to preserve the wildlife of Humboldt Bay.

Our goal is to create a combination of self-healing and environmental education so that we can transform from the inside out. By resting we are allowing room in our mind and hearts to grow. We are more open to education and become increasingly aware of our environment and our ability to act and preserve.

We will display art inside the WIGI dome that depicts local areas and wildlife, featuring local artists. We can serve tea within the WIGI dome as we see fit. There will be signs and posters about local nature that can educate all ages. We host educational workshops on marine biology, forestry, wildlife, or historical history when educators are accessible! Our team managing the WIGI dome would be encouraged to dress in unique costumes reflecting the bay animals and habitats. Extra dream amenities include a projector to show videos of wildlife and string lights. The WIGI dome can serve educational purposes at schools in Humboldt county.

Regarding The Festival of Dreams:

The dome/tent is imagined in Halvorsen Park and would take up a 20x20 space. This includes adjoining artists like Jackie's Kids Clay Painting Station in front of the dome. This dome may start small but can grow in the following years. Fundraising and events to support the dome will help it with its growth in size and material. We are happy with any funding toward this project and will make out of it a rememberable experience regardless of funding restrictions.

Who is Natascha and Little Lost Forest?

Natascha moved out to Humboldt County in 2020 with her husband and daughter. In her early twenties, Natascha participated in the Triptych sound camp at Burning Man 2015 and 2016. She worked closely with Triptych as a live painter at events in San Diego under the business name Starship and Seasalt. She was a part of triangle builds and Youtopia's temple in 2015. In 2016-2017 she threw a series of events under the name Discordia including 24/hr non-stop music event at Eden. She was a solo traveler on her off-season and spent time in Redway, CA, where she found a home in Shelter Cove. She fell in love with the cannabis trade and lifestyle on the hill but returned home with her profits to return to school, where she studied sound engineering and general ed. She also took advantage of this period to spend time with her parents and brother. She worked for The Steve Stopper Group, installing speakers in churches, gyms, schools, and big venues. She also worked as an assistant with her step-dad's company Accurate Soundz. When she met her husband in 2016, they strived to travel but found themselves ultimately bound to southern California. When the opportunity arose, they packed their bags and went to Humboldt County. Natascha graduated from an online program with a BA in Creative Writing. She started her new business, Little Lost Forest, in February 2021. After having their second child, Natascha returned to school at College of the Redwoods. She studied Painting, Live Drawing, and business. She joined the Redwood Art Association as a docent volunteer and, in November 2022, became a secretary board member. Natascha works as a substitute teacher and sets up the Little Lost Forest art booth at the Redwood Park, Summer Arts and Music Festival, and businesses throughout Eureka and Arcata. Jeremy continued his trade with Cal Sole, an Arcata Indoor Farm. We bring you years of passion and ask for an opportunity to heal our community from the inside out through art, starting with you!
Little Lost Forest is an art collective started by Natascha and Jeremy Pearson, inspired by their move to Humboldt County. They create art derived from Celtic pagan practices, their love for nature, and their fascination with adventure and self-exploration. Their mixed media pieces use driftwood, ocean and river pebbles, resin art, acrylic paint, and up-cycled material.
