Big Thanks to our Educators and Speakers!

"I have always dreamt about combining education with art and this is my first large-scale project where I can make that a reality."
-Natascha

Ms.Linde is heading the educational portion of this project. She will provide an educational pamphlet on the marine biology of Humboldt Bay that educates all age groups. Students of Laurel Tree and Northern United Charter have provided us with poster boards to display outside of the tent with original drawings of Humboldt Bay animals and fun facts!

Below is an interview with historian Josh Buck at the Clarke Museum on the history of the  Wigi, Humboldt's Bay.

"Sea otters are fully aquatic animals that feed on aquatic invertebrates and live full-time in the ocean. They do not need fresh water for any purpose and can live their entire lives without coming onto land.

So-called ‘river otters’ are land animals that hunt vertebrate prey in aquatic habitats. They live on land, must drink fresh water, and every aspect of their life history depends on an association with land. They do not care if their prey lives in salt water or fresh; they are equally at home hunting in either.  (The term ‘river’ otter is misleading, and no scientist called them that prior to 1914. Alaskans call them ’land otters’ which makes a lot more sense in my opinion.)"
